One of the most challenging aspects of education in Kenya is often the cost. Early-childhood education and secondary education (high school) are not publicly-provided cost free, and many children and their families cannot afford the school fees. Additionally, while free public primary education does technically exist in Kenya, the term "free" does not necessarily mean what it's perceived to be. The truth is that even in the most populous, government-run schools there are underlying fees that prevent many children from attending school. Our goal is to keep as many of these kids in school as possible!
Below are a number of children from our projects and a few that we have met by chance while working in Kenya that just need a little bit of support. Some of them attend public schools and others attend private schools according to their personal needs (e.g. requirements for more intensive instruction after long absences from school). While we are currently paying for the school fees of the children without sponsors, this is not a sustainable solution. We are searching for people eager to not just pay for their school fees, but to create a lasting relationship with the child that they sponsor. All of the children below deserve the best education possible, and we hope that with your help they will always have access to it! If you are interested in sponsoring a child or would like to learn more about our sponsorship program, please contact us at [email protected].
