Since we started the Longonot Education Initiative in 2011, we have taken on a number of projects—from building schools to rehabilitating children living on the street and addicted to drugs. We choose our projects based on several factors such as the prospects for sustainability, impact, cost effectiveness, and (most importantly) community support. We believe working hand-in-hand with local communities and, whenever possible, partnering with local organizations gives our projects the greatest chance of success and sustainability. To this end, we have primarily worked in two Kenyan communities—Longonot and Ngong—where we have formed close ties, enabling us to work with each community to help with their unique needs.
